A Flex-Shaft like this one from Foredom is one of the best purchases I ever made. I've used it for more than 20 years for just about everything I can imagine.

Cut-off wheels, grinding wheels, brushes, toothed saws and some burs are useful acessories for working with slot cars. I have hundreds of others that are great for other things!
